Day 6 - Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

sunny

We woke at dawn, had breakfast and went to have another last look at the beautiful Taj Mahal. I just couldn’t get enough! From there we set off to Lucknow, a city for the arts and Persian style of living, popularly known as The City of Nawabs (princes and princesses). A very multicultural city that is live with shopping market, gardens and polite people. We first went shopping in the unique bazaar, Aminabad, where we went kite shopping.

We had a delicious lunch with biryani, kebabs, naan and samosas at the Botanical Gardens where we spent most of the afternoon there.

Later, we stopped by at the Bada Imambara complex. It means big shrine for the Shia Muslims. It also has a large mosque, a labyrinth and a main hall. It was quite remarkable that this structure was built in 1783. It was so simple yet so elegant. We decided to drive into Varanasi for the night and sleep there to save money on hotels. It was a 5 hour drive and we arrived safely at the hotel and slept.
